Vic Jackson Memorial Scholarship 2011
Aviation Scholarship Information & Guidelines
Each year the Oklahoma Pilot’s Association Awards an aviation scholarship, for a minimum amount of $2,000. The deadline for applications this year is October 1, 2011. Any Private Pilot meeting the eligibility requirements listed below may apply for this scholarship.
Eligibility Requirements:
State of Oklahoma resident for at least six months prior to postmarked date of application. (If your parents claim you as a dependent for income tax purposes and they reside in a state other than Oklahoma, you are a resident of that state, not Oklahoma.) Proof of U.S. Citizenship.
Financial Need.
Two letters of recommendation, one which must be signed by a local person actively working in or directly involved with aviation education.
Private Pilot at least 18 years of age with a current medical certificate.
Application and letters of recommendation must be postmarked no later than midnight, October 1, 2011
Minimum Grade Point Average of 2.8
Criteria for Selection:
What has the applicant already accomplished?
What is the proposed use of the scholarship award?
How well will applicant use it to advance his/her career?
How will this benefit the aviation community?
How much does applicant need the award financially?
What other scholarships have you received?
Are letters of recommendation superior?
If selected, applicant must agree to:
Report their progress to the Scholarship Committee every three months.
2. Complete the course or training within one year from the date of scholarship award. After one year,
unused funds will be returned to the Vic Jackson Scholarship Fund for future use.
3. Attend a dinner of the Oklahoma Pilot’s Association where the award will be presented.
4. Provide the Scholarship Chairman with a photo and biography of the applicant, to be used for
publication purposes for the Oklahoma Pilot’s Association Newsletter and Website. Sign a release
form for use of photo and biography.
The Scholarship Committee will interview the finalist personally.
All applicants will be advised of the results by the 31st day of October, 2011
